in a third band, the Up, who could more accurately be identified as the
real precursors of punk." -- John Sinclair The Up were a four piece rock n' roll band that helped
spread propaganda for the White Panther Party and the Rainbow People's
Party from 1969-73. Band members were Frank Bach, lead vocal, Bob Rasmussen,
electric guitar, Gary Rasmussen, electric bass, and Scott Bailey, drums.
Includes the Up's singles "Just Like an Aborigine,"
"Hassan I Sabbah," and "Free John Now," alternate
takes and other unreleased studio recordings and live concert and practice
tapes. Also features the poet Allen Ginsberg, unaccompanied, singing "Prayer
for John Sinclair." CD package includes psychedelic poster designed by Marine
Derrick & Patrick Boissel, liner notes by John Sinclair, photos by
